Voiceover Coaching

Every day I’m asked how to get started as a voice actor. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to respond to such questions individually, but this page lists a number of options including free resources, online courses and paid consultations.

To be clear:

I DO NOT offer performance coaching, but personally recommend Dian Perry and Nancy Wolfson.

I DO offer voice acting consultations about marketing yourself as a voice actor.

These are available as either 15 minutes at £50 or for a full hour at £200.

Both are bookable directly below.

Christopher is a very clear and cogent teacher. His advice is very practical and actionable. He gives plenty of examples of the pitfalls he faced when starting out and realistic expectations for new voice actors.

The Business of Voiceover - Online Course

If you are looking for a full overview of the business-side of voiceover, then this course covers all the essentials over 45 minutes, divided over 14 short videos. Even better, it’s absolutely FREE. Just sign-up for a free 14 day trial on Skillshare, and you can watch it, take notes, and then unsubscribe when you’re done.

Over 3,000 students have taken the course since it was created in September 2020, and it has unanimous 5 star reviews. Subjects covered include: agents, pay to play sites, freelancing sites, direct marketing, website design, lead generation, goal setting and customer service.

If you are looking for some acting guidance but don’t currently have the budget for coaching, I’d also recommend checking out my second course on Skillshare - Voiceover Fundamentals. It’s a two hour course which covers warming up, text-analysis, approaches to character and working with direction.

‘Chris packs so much insight and helpful guidance into a relatively short amount of time, in his own words; keeping it light, engaged and succinct! What a wonderful tool for prospecting voice over artists like me who know comparatively little about the business side of voiceover. A great resource that’s both comprehensive and, crucially, easily digestible.
— Luke S. Jones
Chris quickly and succinctly covers a LOT of material here. I’d love to tell you it’s basic, beginner info but depending on any “learning gaps” you may have or tiny details you just don’t know, this is a great guide to VO marketing and what to not waste your time doing.
— Suzanne Wynn
Ideal for people looking to grow their business and better understand how to communicate like a business. An informed and successful teacher who provided loads of great tips and insight.
— Sebastian Brown
Chris gives a really honest approach with detail and clarity. Packed with information from his vast knowledge and experience with voiceover.
— Gabrielle Nellis-Pain
This is a clear, researched, to the point introduction covering all aspects of self-marketing in VO. As a voice actress with years of experience, working mainly through agents, I learnt alot. Notes taken, personal plan coming up!
